Aims

While much policy work involves adhering to clear routines and following good processes, innovation is needed to respond to new issues and to tackle existing problems in ways that improve delivery and impact.

Innovation means seeing issues from different perspectives.

Innovation means connecting to current and emerging trends - sooner rather than later.

Innovation means applying the latest evidence to problems and thinking ahead.

Successful innovation means recognising organisational, professional and political barriers.

Successful innovation means understanding organisational culture, leadership and the nature of the policy issue.

This workshop equips policy practitioners with the skills, ideas and tools to bring innovation to all phases of the policy development.

This workshop focuses on:

  • Understanding the meaning of innovative public policy
  • Identifying barriers to innovation
  • Developing processes and strategies to promote innovation
