Aims

Practitioners are confronted with many issues. Too often responses lack adequate assessment of the underlying problem.

Rigorous policy analysis ensures good policy development, problem solving and effective actions.

Dissecting issues to define the core problem, identify, clarify, assess and classify the evidence and data and evaluate what can be done in terms of problem solving, costs, values and government frameworks is what makes for real successful policy work.

This new workshop provides both practitioners with a 'how-to' toolbox to tackle issues head-on, to avoid delay, to get on top of the debates, the arguments and the often conflicting information to develop potential solutions and progress government action.

This workshop will:

  • Outline 'how-to' step by step approach to analysing issues
  • Detail policy analysis toolbox techniques
  • Apply toolbox techniques to understandable examples
  • Workshop real policy issues
  • Demonstrate processes to assess, dissect and identify underlying issues
  • Assist in priorities actionable responses to issues
  • Provide hands-on case studies
